Our Story

About

how the stillness found a home

Aurora began in 2019 as a circle of eight people, one gong, and a borrowed room above a bookstore. What we discovered there was simple: when people are given permission to be quiet together, something in the nervous system remembers how to rest.

Today Aurora is a dedicated sanctuary in the Blue Ridge Mountains — two practice halls, a tea room, and a garden — but the heart of it is unchanged. We exist to make the tools of meditation, breath, and sound accessible to everyone, regardless of experience, background, or ability to pay.

What We Stand On

Four quiet commitments

01 · Healing

Rest is medicine

Every offering is designed to downshift the nervous system. We measure success in softened shoulders, not milestones.

02 · Mindfulness

Presence over performance

There is no advanced version of being here. Our teaching is secular, trauma-informed, and free of dogma.

03 · Education

Understanding deepens practice

We teach the why behind every technique — the physiology of breath, the science of sound, the history of the traditions we borrow from, with credit.

04 · Community

Nobody practices alone

Weekly free community sits, a scholarship fund, and tea after every class. Belonging is part of the practice.

“We are not here to fix anyone. We are here to hold a room steady enough that people can hear themselves again.”
